"How Celebs Get Great Skin Tone"

glamourcover-200902.jpgLadies (and men!) who are frequently in front of the camera know that taking care of their skin is a top priority. Flawless skin looks great with a minimum of fuss and is the best canvas for any makeup look, from elegantly simple to trend-setting.

This month's issue of Glamour magazine looks at "Celeb Skin at Real-Girl Prices" and highlights one of my combination facials. Many of my clients benefit from my studio treatments, which are personalized to address their skin's needs.

Sunscreens for Summertime

Actually, that's a little misleading: Sunscreens are for anytime, not just the summer months. Improvements in sunscreen technology have brought us greater protection from damaging ultraviolet rays, better texture and absorption, and products that are very easy to incorporate into your everyday skin care program.

A few of the products that I use and recommend to clients are:

+ La Roche Posay Anthelios SX (15 SPF): A light, nongreasy daily moisturizer that offers ultraviolet protection with Mexoryl SX, this is an excellent product and should be the minimum protection you use. Like many products from La Roche Posay, this is a staple in many of my clients' skin care programs. It is fragrance-free and PABA-free, has a wonderfully light texture, and provides comprehensive UVA and UVB protection.

+ La Roche Posay 40 SPF and 60 SPF: For greater protection, I highly recommend these 40- and 60-SPF products. The 60 SPF is in short supply and can be difficult to obtain, but I would be happy to discuss with you which would be appropriate for your skin.

+ Another great choice is Darphin's SPF 30. I've been a fan of many Darphin products for years, and their SPF 30 has a pleasing texture and scent. Whether or not you use other Darphin products, their SPF 30 may be a good option for a daily sunscreen.

Sunscreens are particularly important for my clients who take advantage of peels and other forms of exfoliation. I encourage my studio clients to re-evaluate their sunscreen needs so their choice reflects their skin's condition and their activity level, and am happy to discuss these options with you during your next visit or by phone or email.

A New Product from Neocutis: Hyalis

Hyalis3.jpgMany of my clients--women and men--rely on the healing qualities of Neocutis to repair and nourish their skin. It's a versatile and incredibly effective product whether the concern is speeding recovery from chemical or surgical procedures or minimizing razor burn and post-shaving irritation.

An internationally respected biopharmaceutical company, Neocutis does not introduce products without substantial research and development, so when I learned of their newest product--Hyalis--I knew I'd need to learn more.

Hyalis is a fast-acting 1% hyaluronate refining serum that delivers immediate moisture to relieve dryness. In addition, it smoothes and plumps the skin and minimizes signs of aging. It is an exceptional addition to a program for skin that is recovering from cosmetic procedures or skin that is being treated for many conditions with other products that may dry the skin.

Free of skin irritants, Hyalis is also oil-free, non-comedogenic, dermatologist tested, and recommended for all skin types.

My clients who have come to know and love my Silk Peel treatment will find Hyalis to be an excellent supplement. Hyaluronic acid, which plays a key role in both my Silk Peel treatments and the development of Hyalis, is a moisture-holding substance:Like a sponge, it can absorb up to 1,000 times its weight in water! What this means for skin care is that hyaluronic-based treatments can provide unparalleled moisture, restore elasticity, and give skin a more radiant appearance.

For those of you who would like more information about Hyalis or about my Silk Peel treatments as part of a facial program, please contact me for more information.

ABPeel Revitalizing Treatment Now Available

One of my constant goals is to incorporate the newest and most beneficial technology into my treatments, and I'm delighted to announce the arrival of the ABPeel treatment, which combines radiofrequency, cellular micromassage, and galvanic currents.

What does that mean for my clients? The ABPeel revitalizes the skin by removing excess sebum, debris, and dead cells, by improving oxygenation, and by promoting lymphatic drainage through a system of ultrasonic peeling and biomolecular acceleration.

From their first session, clients who have already tried ABPeel are experiencing its cleansing benefits, which enhance the rest of their treatment and their at-home care. Some clients have also noticed a firming effect from their first session, and more noticable benefits after multiple treatments.

Clients who are already seeing the effects of holiday stress on their skin are thrilled with the cleansing and clarifying effects of ABPeel, and I look forward to introducing its benefits to you. My holiday schedule is filling fast, so contact me at your earliest convenience to schedule a time to treat yourself and make your skin radiant for the holiday season.

Announcing MEG Products

meg-21.jpgI am pleased to announce a new product in my studio: MEG Products.

MEG Products are the latest in scientifically-tested skin care treatments. Available in two formulations, MEG contains Supplamine, a skin supplement that was formulated to counteract the appearance of aging caused by 3DG (3-deoxyglucosone). 3DG is a compound we produce naturally, and researchers believe it is one of the key factors of aging.

Discovered and developed in the course of cancer and diabetes research, Supplamine reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, increases moisture and skin glow and improves overall skin texture, firmness and smoothness, and results are noticeable in 30 days. Visible wrinkles appear smooth, droopy skin appears firmer, flaking dry patches are less visible, and crepe paper-like skin becomes smooth.

Both MEG-21 and MEG-32 have been formulated to be used twice daily, as a moisturizer. MEG-21 is designed for the face; MEG-32 is designed for the neck, decollete, and arms. I highly recommend MEG Products in conjunction with the RevaleSkin, NIA, and human/plant growth products that I carry in my studio. I am also recommending MEG Products for my clients who have sensitive skin, who are using Retin-A, or who have had peels.

Because skin changes over the course of a year, and from year to year, I encourage my clients to contact me for a personal recommendation. I'll be happy to discuss your current skin care program and whether MEG Products are appropriate for you.
