I love when my clients are so pleased with our results that they share my name with others--that's the highest compliment! In the December 2006/January 2007 issue of Playboy's Vixens, Tiffany Taylor graciously says her real beauty secret is "my facialist, J'ai."
Tiffany's a beautiful girl--as her photos reveal--and generous with her praise. Thanks, Tiffany!
One of the themes of this month's Angeleno magazine is health and beauty. The editors have included a feature entitled "Hollywood, Head to Toe," and I'm pleased to be mentioned as one of "Hollywood's ultimate health experts":
Most of Hollywood knows J'ai Lone for her makeup and skincare expertise (client Ashley Olsen recently sang her praises in the London Times) but only a select few know she's developed a line of makeup all her own. The sheer foundations have a soft-focus effect, muting out imperfections while allowing skin to glow through. The velvety lipsticks--move over, gloss, they're back in a big way--are formulated with Vitamin E and the eye shadows have names like Doheny Rose, Wetherly Sand and Natural Rodeo, named for the streets near Lone's always-booked salon. (page 116)
I'll soon have more information about my product line here on the web site, but I encourage you to contact me in the meantime if you have questions or wish to make an appointment.
Now that the long, hot summer is finally over, it’s time to pull out your sweaters, shine up your boots, and get yourself ready for fall with some wonderful new skin care and makeup.
Five Steps to Better Skin Care
It’s easy to get confused about which skin care products to use and in what order. It’s even more confusing when you have to figure out what each product does, and why you should use it. To simplify it for you, I’ve broken down good skin care into five easy-to-follow steps. I have wonderful products that are excellent for each of these steps.
Step 1 -– CLEANSING
It’s important to begin your skin care regime with clean skin. This includes using eye makeup removers, cleansing milks, toners, exfoliators, deep cleansers, and peels. Each of these products targets specific areas. For now, let’s make sure you have at least one of them in your program. A wonderful product to start with in this group is my new Miracle Scrub.
Step 2 -– SUPPORT
Think about this step as the first blow of air into a balloon. These products penetrate the skin and create a deep plumping in the upper layers of the skin, giving it a more toned, less wrinkled appearance. Fetal skin products such as TNS and Neocutis are ideal for this. Again, it’s important to have at least one of these products in your skin care program.
Step 3 –- PREVENTION
In this step, the products support the skin by creating a protective barrier against free radicals, toning and tightening the skin, and creating an even overall appearance. They also help to balance the skin, whether it’s normal, dry, oily. or acned. These products include Prevage, Kinerase, Vitamin C, Copper Peptides, and Vitamin E.
Step 4 –- NOURISHMENT
The next step is to moisturize and hydrate the upper layers of the skin. My nourishing products include DNA, and several serums, moisturizers, and lotions. To get immediate results you might want to try the DNA with the Kinerase; the Stimulskin serum with the Stimulskin cream; or DNA with Oxygen Cream.
Step 5 -– PROTECTION
Last, and never least: sun block. We all know the damage that sun and the elements can do to the skin. Therefore, a good sun block is essential--at least a 15 SPF. I love the MD Skincare Tinted Moisturizer 15 for everyday or the Kinerase SPF 15. For more sun protection there is nothing better than the Jurlique 30 SPF.
Special Skin Care Steps for Fall 2005
Exfoliate! After a summer of exposure to the sun, it’s important to modify your skin care program. The perfect way to start is with a good exfoliator. My new Miracle Scrub is a must for everyone to use. It is gentle, non-irritating, and after using the scrub your skin will feel so soft and will look healthy and glowing.
Cleanse! You’ve heard of Sonicare for the teeth? Now there’s Clarisonic, a new sonic cleansing system for the skin. It’s a truly amazing piece of equipment that uses an electronic brush to cleanse the skin deeply. You can use this at home. Along with the Clarisonic, you can use my new Refreshing Cleanser from Darphin, as well as the Oxygen Cleanser and Mist from Luzern. For a deeper cleansing program, I highly recommend the Face Wash Cream from Jurlique.
Moisturize! For a more toned and moisturized face, try some of the new Kinerase products. Their new Lip Treatment is amazing!
My Facial Treatments
My facial treatments include many of the new products featured in this newsletter, as well as others I have used and enjoyed for several years. I enjoy working with all skin types and have had great results using Revitalight, micro exfoliation, lymphatic drainage, and various peels. My newest treatment, the Neocutis Facial, will be featured in an upcoming issue of Angeleno magazine. The treatment is designed to give your skin a renewed and revitalized glow.
Makeup: Burnt Tones for Fall
This fall, think burnt browns and gilded greens. Use the Chocolate or Cocoa Bronze pencil to shape the eyes, then Olympic Frost over the pencil. Next, apply Canon Cruise and Clay over the entire lid, and highlight with Buff or Whitworth Bone. Bronzage cream blush or Whisper Rose powder will give you the right color for day or night. Line the lips in Russett or Mouse, touch up with Cosmopolitan, then high gloss with Golden Sand or Copper Topper. You’ll be gorgeous for fall.
A Fun Way to Create Your Own Fall Look
Want to have some fun? Indulge your creativity with my Fall Makeup Palette. (Click on the image at left for a better view.) You can play with different fall looks by experimenting with:
++ 3 new lip colors
++ 3 new blushes
++ 3 new powders

The palette is incredible for travel because it lets you create a variety of looks and is so easy to use. A $450 value, I am selling the palette for just $75. From the "Bag of Tricks" interview with Ashley Olsen in the Times of London (October 8, 2005):
I usually follow the same beauty routine both morning and night. I cleanse using Darphin products, sometimes apply a light scrub to exfoliate, tone and apply eye cream. I use Neocutis moisturiser - it's a Swiss brand that I love. I wash my face during the afternoon too because it freshens me up. I rarely wear eye make-up during the day, so if I'm going out in the evening I vamp it up by applying eyeliner and mascara. My beauty secrets are not very exciting. Honestly, I keep it simple. I wash my face a lot and I enjoy splurging and getting a monthly facial. I'm loyal to my aesthetician, J'ai, who is based in LA. She has the most healing touch.
I've been lucky enough to work with amazing make-up artists and always pick up tips from them. They tend to have the best beauty advice and have turned me on to some great products. I enjoy having a tan, but my must-have desert-island product would have to be sunscreen. I'm not too choosy about the brand - I use anything I can get my hands on. One thing I do need, though, is a full night's sleep; if I don't get one, it definitely shows.
Neocutis is an excellent product, and many of my clients are thrilled with the positive--and noticeable--results. For more information about Neocutis and how to make it a key part of your skin care regimen, please contact me.
We are in a time where there are so many wonderful skin care and makeup products available to us. I have been working in the business for 30 years and I have built a wonderful research network of plastic surgeons, dermatologists, and many other professionals. I research all the products that I carry at my studio in Beverly Hills and only carry the best of the best products and service. And I am pleased to bring to you my recommendations for the best skin care and makeup for the spring and summer of 2005.

Recommended Treatments
My skin care treatments are designed for each of my client's needs. During my 1½-hour treatments I may use ultrasound, light therapy, lymphatic drainage, glycolic peels, or topical microdermabrasion, to name a few techniques. I work on deep cleaning the skin and focusing on each client's specific needs, which may change from appointment to appointment.
Also available at my studio are eyebrow shaping and eyelash tinting.
I hope that if you have not tried one of my wonderful facials you will make an appointment to do so.
Recommended Makeup
My background is in photography makeup, and I have worked with the best hairstylists, photographers, clothing designers, models, actresses, and actors. I now believe that I have a tool that will finally show you why and how you can look your best. My before and after photographs teach you what looks best on you for any occasion. The digital photographs are downloaded instantly and we can look in detail at each step that the makeup is applied. You have the benefit of my expertise and you can take this home with you to review. This is a two-hour session. ($750.00)
Natural skin tints with sunblock are great for the daytime. Using my concealer to spot blemishes and discolorations usually is enough coverage for day. A light dusting of Dream powder gives the skin a natural matte appearance.
For the eyes: Prime the eyelid with Fair Botanical eye primer. Follow with a light dusting of the lid with Santa Monica Boulevard. The crease should be strongly accented with Roxbury Taupe, Elm Oakhurst Matte. Pink Magic is used to highlight the natural glow on the cheeks. A soft layering of Sheer Nectar, Super Candy glosses. If you need to define your lips, use Sand, Cappucino, or Vintage after the gloss application.
For evening use a smudge of Navy or Black shadow along the lash base. Crease tone is Fudge, dark and smokey. Curl the lash, and don't forget to put on the lash thickener before applying my new Lash Increasing Mascara.
Shape the cheeks with Natural Sunset and Pink Magic. Make your lips their most attractive with Micro Latte, Lust, or Natural Rodeo, and don't forget to apply Gold Gleam lip gloss over lip color to highlight for evening.

I do hope this finds you in good health and happy in spirit. I have just returned from a very relaxing vacation on the Big Island of Hawaii. It reminded me that we all need to take time out from our very busy lives to enjoy quiet times. I hope the following informaion will help to make your life easier and more enjoyable.
NEW: Papima
pH balanced is something we hear about all the time. But what does that mean, and why is it so important? The nature pH of a healthy body is 6.2. Today, however, we see that the body is producing too much acid. Healthy acids are found in the stomach, but too much in other areas of the body can cause many problems.
One of the main causes of aging is too much acidity in the body. My new machine, Papima, has been developed by Dr. Papima from Greece. He was working on creating a machine that would create the same full electrical charge as lightening. He has done that, and with this machine we have seen incredible results. The machine is used for healing different areas of the body; recently, Shaquille O'Neal has invested in the machine because of the benefits he has found from it. I am now using this machine in my practice to help balance the pH in the cells of the face, thereby creating a healthy, vibrant skin. I am amazed by this machine. Please call for your own treatment.
Revitalight
Photopulsation and light therapy produce a visible reduction in wrinkes and tone in skin. It also helps to lighten skin damage.
NEW: Oxygen Luzern
If you are looking for that incredible glow . . . this is the skin care line to use. Luzern from New York is the most powerful oxygen line.

NEW: Tan Towels
An easy-to-use wipe that tans the skin without any residue. A great way to maintain a light tan throughout the fall and winter, and it will not leave the skin looking orange. My clients are buying these by the box! ($2.50 per pad)
TRIED AND TRUE: TNS, Retinyl, Vitamin C, and the Repair Crème
TNS is a must have to fight off the aging process. Results can be seen within days. I love the use TNS with Kinerase. If you want to look years younger I strongly recommend TNS and Kinerase.
NEW: Kinerase eye cream: Available now at $65.00
TRIED AND TRUE for the . . .
++ BODY: The more oxygen we can provide for the body, the tighter and stronger the skin will be. TNS Body is the perfect body cream. It tightens the skin, reverses sun damage, and helps to eliminate cellulite. TNS can be used under any body moisturizer. I highly recommend trying the Body Slimming Gel or Crème Comfort by Darphin.
++ HANDS: Xerand Hand Cream keeps the hands soft. It is nongreasy and great for dry cuticles. Don't just buy one . . . ($15.00)
++ MAKEUP: Time to open up to a change . . . try spray! Look like you have the healthiest skin possible and a glorious glow that you will not believe. Also, it is time to stop wearing those dark brown or black shades on the eyes: lighten up your look with color! The shades of color today are not like the shades of the 1980s. Color brightens your face and actually softens it. Open up to a change; you may be surprised how soft and feminine you will look.
And. . . instead of using your regular base all over your face, how about trying a light moisture tint? I love to blend a little base with the tint as well if I feel my client needs a bit more coverage. My formula is Light Tinted Moisturizer Base with #1 or #2 base. You could even try blending this over a damp face or a freshly moisturized face.
GLOW: Stain the cheek with Afterglow, a new cream blush. Don't be afraid to use a little color! If you would like to add some powder, Pink Magic works beautifully over this cream. Powder if you must, but only with Illusion or Dream.
